WHAT IS CCCIP?
CCCIPC Award for Collaborative Excellence - NEW
The CCCIP Award for Collaborative Excellence is a new award which will be presented every second year at the Canadian Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Conference. Please check out the Awards page for more information.
What does it do?
The Canadian Collaborating Centres for Injury Prevention (CCCIP) is a network of national, provincial and regional injury prevention organizations which analyze and act on the leading injury issues and have established joint ventures to address Canada’s invisible epidemic – injury. An injury prevention organization and/or a provincial government staff member with a mandate for injury prevention and/or control represent each province in Canada. Several members receive provincial support and all have close ties to their ministries of Health and Transportation. The CCCIP is uniquely placed to offer liaison between national organizations and government departments as well as the network of provincial and regional centres of expertise that have well-established links with community-based programmes for injury prevention and control.
By building and maintaining a network of centres across the country this collaborative hopes to:
- Create consistency and reduce duplication in injury issues and initiatives.
- Enhance the ability of regions to learn from one another (in areas such as evaluation, surveillance and research).
- Act as a conduit for input and a dissemination route from both the national and regional perspectives.
- Work collaboratively on injury prevention and control issues from a regional and provincial perspective.
- Support the development of a critical mass of injury prevention and control stakeholders that together can make a significant impact on injury prevention and control.
- Influence the national perspective.
How does it work?
Membership is drawn from Directors or Managers of organizations with an injury prevention mandate who commit to an ongoing involvement and attendance at meetings. Face-to-face meetings are held twice a year, with additional meetings conducted by teleconferences on an as needed basis to move ahead collaborative projects.
